Review of Maitighar-Tinkune cycle lane to operationalization
Cycle lane located at Maitighar to Tinkune section is currently near to dysfunctional. Without any review and improvement on the current design faults, the lane is being exploited day by day by private vehicles and roadside institutions. Lanes is now no more for cycle. So, there is an urgent need to assess the present condition and relevant changes in order to make it functional.
With preliminary observation, faulty design seems a major reason for being dysfunctional. However various studies shall be done in order to know the exact reason. In response to this, review of different data and literatures are required to make it functional. The plan to carry out an inclusive survey to know the demand and need of cyclist and related users is also required.
OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The main objective of the study is to review the Maitighar-Tinkune cycle lane and provide appropriate suggestion for the operation of the cycle lane. The specific objectives of the study are:
1. To conduct condition survey and review of the existing cycle lane.
2. To identity and outline the issues and constraints of the existing cycle lane; and
3. To recommend for the relevant necessary interventions needed to make the existing cycle lane functional.
