Rubin Singh Maharjan is a dedicated advocate for sustainable urban mobility with a focus on promoting active transport like walking and cycling. He holds a Master’s in Development Studies from Kathmandu University, School of Arts, and has been actively involved in youth and mobility issues since 2019. Rubin serves as the Secretary and Researcher at Nepal Cycle Society (NCS), contributing significantly to research projects and policy advocacy.

His expertise spans research on Cycle Lane Master Plans, leading youth mobilization, and managing campaigns aimed at promoting active mobility. Rubin has been at the forefront of coordinating with local authorities, including Ward Chairman and Lalitpur Metropolitan City, for key initiatives under the City Pride Projects. These include the Cycle Sharing initiative, the pedestrianization of Mangal Bazar, and making Lalitpur a cycle-friendly city. He has also contributed to various tactical urbanism studies and cycle advocacy programs.

Rubin has published a research journal on ResearchGate titled “Health Problems Experienced in Online Learning During COVID-19 in Nepali Universities” and completed a Master’s thesis titled “A Study on Social Acceptance of Cycling: People’s Travel Behavior and Attitude Towards Cycling in Lalitpur, Nepal.” Additionally, Rubin has taken a leadership role in projects like Cycle to Work under the British Council’s In Our Hands program, which focuses on addressing climate change by promoting sustainable business models. He also advocates for cycling at the school level through the Cycle to School project, positioning cycling as a key solution in the fight against climate change.
