Cycle Rally (SONA)

Cycling is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to promote sustainable mobility and a healthier lifestyle. Unlike other modes of transport, cycling does not require fuel, extensive infrastructure, or costly investments—just your own willingness to move with purpose. If you have the drive to make a difference, cycling becomes a natural choice. However, to truly make cycling a widespread and long-term mobility solution, it is essential to encourage and normalize its use beyond just special occasions or one-day events.

Recognizing the importance of integrating cycling into everyday life, The Society of Nepalese Architects (SONA), in collaboration with Nepal Cycle Society, is organizing a cycling initiative that goes beyond recreation. This event is particularly aimed at professionals from engineering and architectural backgrounds, encouraging them to step away from their screens and actively participate in a real-world, practical movement towards sustainable urban development. With urban spaces becoming increasingly congested and polluted, promoting cycling as an alternative means of transport is more critical than ever.

By taking part in this initiative, participants will not only enjoy the physical and mental benefits of cycling but also contribute to raising awareness about eco-friendly transportation. This event serves as an opportunity for professionals to experience firsthand the role of cycling in urban mobility and inspire them to incorporate cycling-friendly infrastructure into their designs and city planning.

The goal is to make cycling a mainstream mode of transport, encouraging individuals and communities to opt for bicycles over motorized vehicles whenever possible. This small yet significant shift can reduce carbon emissions, ease traffic congestion, and create healthier cities. When more people cycle, cities become more livable, cleaner, and safer.
